ATs CARE

​The mission of the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association’s ATs Care Committee is to provide timely, confidential peer to peer support services to athletic trainers and athletic training students following a critical incident (CI) or catastrophic event through supporting, assisting and monitoring the emotional well-being of the athletic trainer/athletic training student.

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS

The NYSATA Governmental Affairs committee is responsible for overseeing all legislative activity within New York State relating to Athletic Training – they recently achieved the goals of passing Assembly bill A219A and Senate bill S942A which updated the practice act and gained licensure.

LGBTQ+ ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Mission

The mission of the LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee (LGBTQAC) is to advocate for an environment of inclusion, respect, equity and appreciation of differences in both athletic trainers and their diverse patient populations. The committee will identify, explore, address and provide educational resources regarding emerging topics and concerns relevant to diverse sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions within the profession and health care topics affecting patients in the LGBTQ+ community. Note: The plus sign represents diverse sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions which may not be explicitly included in the LGBTQ acronym.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

About the Young Professionals' Committee (YPC):

The YPC was created to address issues of athletic trainers who are in the first 12 years after initial certification/licensure. It develops strategies to increase recruitment, retention, volunteer involvement and convention attendance among young athletic training professionals. The YPC provides programs, activities and educational opportunities to address young professional needs. The committee also promotes professional socialization of young professionals.
